Ferrari chief Luca di Montezemolo has made no secret of his disdain for the current technical regulations in Formula 1, and has even laid some of the responsibility for that with the sport's 82-year-old commercial chief Bernie Ecclestone.
"Certainly, old age is often incompatible
with certain roles and responsibilities," Di Montezemolo told British newspaper Telegraph. "Since some people have used the expression 'It's a joke' in recent days, I would like to say that this is the real 'joke'.
Ferrari have not won either a drivers' or constructors' title since the 2008 season when Felipe Massa lost dramatically to Lewis Hamilton.
