A girl allegedly strangled her mother to death with the help of her paramour and his friend at Gohana in Sonepat district of Haryana on October 25, it was revealed on Wednesday.   Shweta Saini, 16, wanted to marry Surender of Wazirpura village in Sonepat, to which her mother
Sheila Saini opposed as Surender belonged to a different caste.

Thereafter, Shweta hatched a plan with Surender and his friend Rinku and allegedly took Sheila out of home on the pretext of taking her on a pilgrimage.

“After reaching near the Gohana-Julanaro ad, they throttled Sheila with a steel wire and buried her nearby,” said Rajiv Kumar, Gohana station house officer.

Meanwhile, Shweta told neighbours that her mother had gone to a religious place and married Surender on November 5.

It was only after Sheila’s brother Surender, a resident of Karnal district, registered a missing complaint that the trio was interrogated and the alleged crime came to fore.
Sheila’s body has been sent for post-mortem at PGIMS, Rohtak.

“A murder case has been registered against Shweta, Surender and Rinku,” a police official said.
