P.di Resta
Paul Di Resta enters his second season as a full-time driver with Force India in 2012, having finished the 2011 season as the top rookie. Di Resta is a member of a famous Scottish racing family and is the cousin of Indycar star, Dario Franchitti, and sportscar racer, Marino Franchitti. Following numerous stints in various single-seater series, he had moved to the ASM team in Euro F3 by 2006, where he enjoyed a stunning season, taking five wins, and beating the then BMW Sauber F1 test driver Sebastian Vettel to the title. Mercedes was mightily impressed, and the Scot was offered a DTM seat for 2007, where he impressed everyone in his rookie season. His performance earned him a promotion to a works drive in 2008 where he finished a close second in the championship. The following year in December, he also had his first experience of Force India when he took part in the Young Driver F1 test at Jerez. That test helped to secure Di Resta the role of reserve driver for 2010 and his programme included eight Friday FP1 sessions, giving him some valuable experience. Meanwhile he continued to star in the DTM, where he won the championship - the first title for Mercedes for four years. Di Resta graduated to a Force India race seat for 2011, alongside Adrian Sutil. He finished tenth on his debut in Australia and went on to score points on seven further occasions, with a best of sixth in Singapore.

F1 Pundit
The 'bonkers' business logic of Formula 1 teams

The primary goals of any normal business are to be successful in its field; to add value to the company; and to make a profit. Other strategic goals include building a brand, becoming the market leader or expanding the business into new areas. Joe Saward writes.

F1 needs America to complete global jigsaw

If all goes to plan, this will be a big week for Formula 1 as it returns to the United States for the first time in five years. F1 has failed to break into the US market in the course of the last 30 years, having blown the foundations that were built at Watkins Glen and Long Beach in the 1970s.
