Robert PattinsoWhile fans of the Twilight saga across the world celebrated the sequel New Moon’s release yesterday, it gave India a miss. Instead of the second instalment, movie buffs will have to make do with Twilight, that too, a year after it released in the US.

“I was waiting eagerly for it but was shocked. Twilight has long been out on pirated DVDs,” says Shubhi Vijay, of LSR College. “Is India not a big enough market?” says Stuti Kohli of DU.

The internet has been abuzz, too. “New Moon not releasing in India? Please tell me it’s not true!” posts Natty Kipgen on Facebook. “It’s heartbreaking!” writes Pratira Zadoo. Despite the outrage, some intend to watch Twilight. “I’ll watch it out of loyalty,” says Rohan Sharma, a DU student.

Rumour has it that New Moon may release in December. “We have heard nothing,” says Deepak Taluja of Fun Cinemas. “I have no information either,” Gautam Dutta of PVR Cinemas says.
