Kamran Khan'S bowling coach Obaid Kamal on Sunday added fuel to the fire regarding the Rajasthan Royals bowler’s suspect action, saying, “Kamran's action was always doubtful during his five-month stint with me in Lucknow.”
Kamran was on Thursday reported for a suspect bowling action by
the Indian Premier League match officials.
An ex-Ranji Trophy bowler, Kamal, who is also a member of the UP Cricket Association's senior selection committee, told HT that he had first noticed Kamran’s faulty action during the UPCA’s pace bowling camp in Kanpur.
“His action was faulty right from the start. I always kept telling him about his action during nets at the Avadh College Ground in Lucknow.
“But, before I could do something about it, Kamran left for Mumbai,” said Kamal. “Undoubtedly, he bowls with a jerky action, but that can be corrected easily with proper guidance.
“Kamran needs a good bowling coach and a good drill expert to correct his action. His action becomes faulty when he either tries to bowl a quicker one or a slower one, but there is no problem when he bowls his stock delivery,” Kamal added.
Meanwhile, Kamran's coach in Mumbai, Naushad, refused to be dragged into the controversy. “I have been asked not to make any comments. The entire Rajasthan Royals team is with Kamran, and I hope, very soon he will come out clean.
“I don't know much about cricket, but somehow I feel it’s a conspiracy against Kamran,” said his brother Shamshad on phone from Mau. “Allah is with Kamran and he will survive for sure.”
