The ICC has decided to launch a “full investigation” into allegations of black marketing of tickets and review the process of ticket sales. Confirming this, ICC CEO, Haroon Lorgat, said the executive board which met on Monday to review the World Cup, had taken note of the allegations. “We
do not condone such behaviour. We will investigate and if any action is needed, it’ll be done.”

Tickets for the India-Pakistan semifinal and the final in Mumbai were sold at almost 20 times their original price and the police made some arrests. The ICC board also confirmed the decision to reduce the number of teams for 2015 from 14 to 10. “The decision is not solely based on the need to reduce the duration, but also to ensure the quality of matches.”

The format would be finalised at the next board meeting. However, Lorgat hinted it could be like the league-cum-knockout format in 1992. A qualification process would be in place for the 2019 edition.
