Somerset bowler Murali Kartik celebrates with teammaes the wicket of KKR batsman Jack Kallis during the Champions League T20 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Somerset at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket stadium in Hyderabad.

South Africa's Warriors lost the battle to Somerset in the complicated and tight Group 'B'. The English team sealed the first semifinal berth at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Joint leaders with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), a win would have settled the issue for the Warriors. However, Somerset, led by England opener Craig Kieswetter's 56, raised a challenging 146 for 4 and then used their bowling cleverly to restrict their opponents to 134 for 8.

JJ Smuts (38) and Colin Ingram (31) raised hopes of successfully chasing down the target but the pace of Alfonso Thomas and Murali Kartik's spin held the bowling together.

While Somerset moved to the safety of five points, the result effectively knocked KKR out.

Needing 23 in the last two overs, the Warriors surrendered to Thomas, who took two wickets and gave away just two runs in his killer 19th over.

Brief scores: Somerset 146-4 (C Kieswetter 56, R Van Der Merwe 32) beat Warriors 134-8 (J Smuts 38, A Thomas 2-16)
