Rajeev Khandelwal makes his Bollywood debut with the film Aamir.
Actor Rajeev Khandelwal speaks to
Ritujaay Ghosh
on his switch from Television to the big screen.
Okay, why give up your commanding position on TV for an iffy movie career?
It was something I had to do. I switched when my television career was at the

crossroads. I was jobless and clueless about my next step when
Aamir
happened.
Did you take the initiative to seek out film producers?
The script came to me through a line producer who is my friend. I read it on board a flight, liked it, and called him. It was something spontaneous. There are so many scripts that had come to me but I had not reverted to the writers or the producers.
Aamir
deals with the sensitive issue of terrorism..
That's why I liked it. It's a simple story about a doctor who after graduating from London comes to Mumbai to work where something else awaits him. He gets involved in a trap.
But to start a Bollywood career without a heroine..
It doesn't have any scope for a heroine.
What about a film with Aamna Sharif?
Your
jodi
was a hit on television…
I won't mind working with Aamna. I would actually be happy to, if the script demanded it. But I don't want to do a film that promotes ‘Rajeev and Aamna' rather than the story .
Is television a closed chapter?
All I know is that I want to stay in Bollywood because I have developed a taste for the big screen. At least, I have understood one crucial difference between the two mediums before starting a film, the actor knows what the end will be. But in television, an actor is always confused about where the story is heading.
You seem to be rather annoyed with television…
Not at all. But I refuse to repeat myself. I am going through quite a few scripts of serial and getting back to directors. That should spell out my intentions!
