A BSF jawan was injured in firing by Pakistani troops on Monday afternoon across the international border in Samba district, about 50-km from Jammu city.

As Pakistan yet again violated ceasefire, the Border Security Force (BSF) responded and firing is still on.

“The jawan was hit in the abdomen in sniper fire at a forward post along the border at about 11am,” said PS Tomar, inspector general of BSF, Jammu frontier.

According to reports, the jawan was guarding the post at Kothe, when he was hit by a sniper.

This is the fourth incident of sniper fire on BSF personnel along the international border this year. One jawan had died in August and two others were injured.

Around 9pm on Saturday, Pakistan began firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector. The exchange of fire ceased at 4am on Sunday. No loss of life was reported on the Indian side.

Recently, the Indian Army had foiled an infiltration bid by around 30 Pakistani terrorists in Keran Sector of Kashmir. Four terrorists were killed in the 15-day operation.
