In a huge boost to the Delhi Police, which is demanding death sentence for four accused in the December 16, 2012 gang rape case, all the 80 witnesses have stood by their statements in the fast track court.
The last witness of the prosecution, the investigating officer, identified the
bedsheet with which the critically injured victim and her friend were covered when first spotted by the PCR van near a flyover in south Delhi, the rod with which the girl and her friend were assaulted and the keys of the bus.
She also identified the clothes of the five accused, including prime accused Ram Singh who was found hanging in his cell in Tihar jail on March 11.
The officer will be cross-examined by the defence lawyers.
The male friend of the victim identified the accused and explained the sequence of events.
A doctor at the Safdarjung hospital, in-charge of the ICU where the victim was treated for ten days said the injuries were fatal. This was collaborated by doctors in Singapore who conducted her post-mortem. They denied allegation of lawyers for accused that she was brought dead.
DNA experts have said bloodstained clothes and body swabs linked all accused to the crime.
