A woman allegedly thrashed her two-year-old son to death at Mamera village under Ratia block in the district. The deceased has been identified as Gurkirat, son of Maninder Singh.
Maninder (25) told mediapersons outside the civil hospital here on Tuesday that his wife, Paramvir Kaur, first
hit the child on the head with a broomstick and then threw him on the floor. The boy was taken to the civil hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Investigating officer Bhagat Ram from Ratia police station said a case had been registered against Paramvir under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on the complaint of the victim’s father. The provocation for the assault is yet to be established.
