Just a few days after Gurmeet Singh's term as Panjab University sports director ended, tennis coach Rupinder Singh Saini, who was working with the university on the contractual basis since January 2010, levelled allegations of bribery and harassment against him.

It is pertinent to mention here that PU has refused to renew Rupinder's contract and in an affidavit he has alleged that Gurmeet asked him to pay Rs. 5 lakh in exchange of getting a permanent appointment.

The affidavit, which was filed two months ago, Rupinder besides making some wild allegations also states that Gurmeet not only used foul language, but also threatened to physically harm him.The coach also alleges that Gurmeet, while asking for bribe, also told him that he also had to shell out a huge amount for his post.

Responding to the allegations, Gurmeet said that some of the charges against him are so demeaning that he doesn't want to react to them but added that he is strongly thinking of launching legal proceedings against Rupinder.

"He (Rupinder) never submitted the documents, even his educational certificates, required for his contract to be renewed. I am thinking of filing a defamation case against him. All his allegations are baseless and he is trying to malign my name," Gurmeet said.
