The deceased has been identified as Shobha, 32, a resident of Attawa village, while her father Sandhu Chand, 57, and Ajay Kumar, 24, also residents of Attawa, received injuries.

Station house officer, Sector 39 police station, inspector Charanjit Singh Virk said Shobha and her father used to sell second-hand clothes on the roadside. On Sunday, they hired a Tata Magic (CH-01TA-7589) from Attawa and loaded around 50 bags containing clothes on its roof.

The vehicle was carrying around 10 people. According to eyewitness, Ajay Kumar was driving the vehicle at a high speed and failed to negotiate a turn near a gurdwara near Sector 38 and the vehicle overturned. The police were informed and the victims were rushed to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), where Shobha was declared brought dead.
Sandhu Chand and Ajay Kumar are still under treatment and their condition is stated to be stable.

The body has been kept in the hospital mortuary and will be handed over to family after post mortem.

On a complaint filed by Shobha's brother Manu Chand, a case under Sections 279, 337 and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the driver of the vehicle at the Sector 39 police station.
