Accusing the ruling Congress government of promoting nepotism, favouritism and shielding corrupt officials, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday demanded a high-level probe into the appointments of 15 employees by an outsourcing agency in Solan Agriculture Produces Marketing Committee (APMC).
Party leaders also blamed the social justice and empowerment minister and sitting Congress legislator of Solan assembly segment DR Shandil of overlooking the development of the district and his subsequent failure in safeguarding the interest of unemployed youth of the district.
Talking to mediapersons, the general secretary of Solan BJP Shailender Gupta along with Lokeshwer Sharma, Tirtha Nand, Deepak Sharma, Amar Singh Thakur and others said that the Congress has always overlooked Solan district in terms of development and it appeared that the minister had miserably failed in accelerating the pace of development.
The developmental activities had came to a complete halt ever since the Congress assumed power and all schemes and projects completed during the BJP government were not dedicated to people on political considerations.
Expressing concern over the recent appointments of 14 employees of Chopal area out of 15, the home constituency of State Agriculture and Marketing Board's chairman, Gupta said that the appointments made by an outsourcing agency were enough evidence to prove that the Congress preached something else thing and practiced something else and that their sole motive has always been to capture power.
He said that the BJP would oppose the appointments tooth and nail and would launch an agitation to unmask the Congress leaders' misdeeds. He urged the chief minister to order a high-level probe into the appointments as it has inflicted injustice on the unemployed youth of the district.
