Editor booked for cheating

The Mehatpur police have charged Manjit Singh Rattu a resident of Ramuwal village with cheating and breach of trust. Rattu is editor of a "dailynews paper” Link Pardesi” being published from Jalandhar.


SHO Manjit Singh said that Amit Verma, sales manager of Hyundai company BMC chowk Jalandhar complained that the accused purchased a Verna car from them in exchange of Honda and agreed to clear balance amount of loan by August 26. The accused gave a cheque of Rs. 327965 of HDFC bank which bounced as there was only Rs. 617 in his account and thus cheated them.

SHO said a case under sections 406 (breach of trust) and 4209 (cheating) of IPC has been registered against the accused and further investigations are on.
