Paramjit Singh Kainth, national president of National Scheduled Castes Alliance(NSCA), in a statement, said here on Wednesday that the scheduled castes (SCs), which constituted 35% of the total population of the state, lived on the mercy of the state government and the major reason for this was the lack of a strong and quality leadership which could earn them their due rights.
Alleging that the political parties used the SCs as mere vote bank, he said that no one raised voice for their cause.
Accusing the SAD chief and deputy chief minister, Sukhbir Singh Badal, of working on a conspiracy to weaken the community, he said that Badal junior had deputed one of his blue-eyed bureaucrats for this task .
He asserted that NSCA would expose this nexus very soon. State government's anti-scheduled castes face stood exposed as it had not nominated even a single member from the community for Punjab Public Service Commission, even though the Commission was meant to recruit Class-1 and other officials and implement reservation criteria in such recruitments, he added.
Kainth said that the government was not even sincere in implementing the Scheduled Castes Sub Plan for the SCs which it had accepted in July. He said the party had decided to soon launch an agitation against the government over this issue
