The city police have arrested a youth for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl, after taking her to an isolated location. In her complaint to the police, the girl has alleged that her 'boyfriend' Harpreet alias Happy raped her in Jandiala, station house officer (SHO) Rajinder Sharma
said.
The girl has also alleged that Happy forced her to drink alcohol too, before raping her.
The SHO said that the accused had been arrested on Monday and a case under section 376 (rape) of the IPC had been registered against her.
On the reason for the delay in complaint and the arrest, the SHO said that the victim could not gather the courage to complaint. The police was approached after the victim took her mother into confidence.
