Studentsof government primacy school, their parents and Bahadurpur residents on Friday morning staged a dharna on Phillaur-Nurmahal road and blocked traffic for one hour to protest against government decision to merge school in nearby village school.
Village sarpanch Davinderjit said that government decision amounts to snatching children’s right to education. He said that village school is being merged in nearby Shampur village school situated on Phillaur Nurmahal road. Students parents said to sent children to Shampur School is like playing with fire as road is always busy with traffic.
They said that there are 26 students in Bahudarpur village who study in Shampur School. They warned to intensify their stir for school. Block primary education officer Jaswinder Singh reached on the spot and received a memorandum addressed to chief minister.
