In the wake of Canadian government's clarification that the country had not refused protection to Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who recently cancelled his Vancouver trip citing security reasons, Dal Khalsa, has asked him to step down on moral grounds for bluffing and misleading the people.
Party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said the officials of Indian foreign ministry and Badal had lied on the matter.
"Sukhbir should clarify his position and reveal the actual reason behind his cancellation of the trip," Kanwarpal said. "What we understand is that the deputy chief minister cancelld his trip for fear of litigation and possible detention by Canadian legal system. Security concern was a mere an excuse. Besides, the Indian government too spoiled his chances of going abroad," he added.
