PSEB schools to get question papers through banks

With an objective to prevent the leakage of question papers from examination centers, the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has decided to send the question papers to two banks - Punjab National and HDFC - from where examination controller or superintendent will collect it on the day of the scheduled examination.

The new arrangement will come into practice on September 4 when Class 10 and 12 students will appear in the exams for compartment/re-appear for improvement/ opt for additional subject.

Meanwhile, district education officer (secondary) Paramjit Kaur Chahal has collected the information about the number of students expected to write the exams from September 4.

Vice-chairman of the PSEB Suresh Tandon told Hindustan Times: “The step was taken to avoid question paper leakage from examination centers. The question papers will be sent to various branches of the banks a week before the examination starts. The controller or superintendent can collect the question papers from the nearest branch on the date of the examination.”

“Moreover, if the process succeeds, we will implement it for the annual exams to be held in March 2014,” he added.

The banks have already been informed about the strength government schools nearest to them so that, in case, if the banks receive less number of question papers, it can inform the board and more question papers will be sent to the banks.

On September 4, Class 12 students will appear in English subject while students of Class 10 the exams will start with science subject.

Anoop Kumar Passi, principal at Government Senior Secondary School, Isewal, said, “This is a good initiative by the board to avoid the leakage. The board is going the Central Board of Secondary Education's way.”
