Offices may as well declare Wednesday a holiday, because a lot of people are going to be calling in sick. Seconds after it became official that India will play Pakistan in the World Cup semi-final, cyberspace was flooded with jokes along these lines.

“The govt should declare
Wednesday a national holiday,” wrote Gautam Verma on Facebook. “Now comes the real final — Bharat Bandh,” wrote Ankush Wohra. “Appeal to employers: Holiday on semi-final day!” wrote Aamir. Varuni Khosla has a different worry. “Who will Sania Mirza support?” she asks.

Pakistani fans, too, are having fun. “Now, India will have to drink tea in saucers, as Pakistan will take the cup away,” wrote Ali Imran.
