Raima Sen is all set for an image makeover..writes Ritujaay Ghosh
The last year was really busy for you..
(Smiles) Yeah, I had Eklavya, Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, Anuraran, The Bong Connection and Manorama-Six Feet Under.
It was my best year so far. But I have done my share of intense roles over the years, now I want to play lighter roles.
Is that why you signed up for the laugh riot C Company with Tusshar Kapoor?
I have always enjoyed comedy. I did Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd last year but there wasn't much for me to do in this multi-starrer. C Company is fun and the role has range. I play Mithun's (Chakraborty) sister. He's a gangster.<b1>
Does that mean you're no longer open to intense roles?
I'm trying to strike a balance between the light and the intense. My next film is Mere Khwaboon Mein Jo Aaye in which I play Arbaaz's wife.
After 10 years of marriage and a son, she's depressed and wants to chase after her dreams. Randeep Hooda is her fantasy lover. (Smiles) That's serious stuff but I'm also getting a lot of offers for glamourous roles. They involve romancing the hero. I'm enjoying it all.
When do we see you and your sister Riya on screen together?
Soon, I hope. We have been approached for a film by director Vickey Chopra.
Next up is The Japanese Wife with Rahul Bose?
Yeah, I start dubbing for the Hindi and English versions in a few days. I'm really excited about this film. The director, Aparna Sen, makes good cinema.
Rituparno Ghosh's Bengali film Khela is also being dubbed in Hindi.
Yes. We've just completed the Hindi dubbing. Rituda's happy with it, though personally I feel that regional films shouldn't be dubbed or subtitled.
The Bengali original of Aniruddha Roychowdhury's Anuraran was well appreciated. It celebrated a 100-day run in Kolkata. But the response to the dubbed Hindi version was at best lukewarm.
Khela is a very different kind of a film... more serious. Khela and The Japanese Wife were films I signed some time ago. Doing light romantic roles is a recent decision.
