Movie bosses of Sex and the City have slammed reports of a third film in in the hit franchise and insisted they are not expanding the series in the coming times.

 The
New Line Cinema executives admit that there are no plans for a third movie installment, Contactmusic reported. "This is not true," a company spokesperson said in a statement.

A sequel to their original big-screen hit of 2008 is due out later this year which stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.

The fashionable foursome had become global TV stars after starring in the original Sex and the City series from 1998 until 2004.
Meanwhile, Cattrall has suggested there may be a third Sex and the City film "as long as we have stories to tell".

The 53-year-old actress suggested that the film versions of the original television series may continue on past a second outing. "It was fantastic. I think as long as we have stories to tell. It was very interesting because we did this series for six years and we ended it at the exact right moment, we didn't repeat ourselves.

"I think we'll tell stories as long as they are there to tell." The star, who plays man-eater Samantha Jones in the movie, also confirmed that shooting had wrapped on the second film. The movie adaptation of their second outing, Sex and the City 2, will hit cinemas in May this year.
