The National Human Rights Commission on Friday asked the Orissa government to file a detailed report to it on the communal violence in the state in the wake of the killing of a VHP leader.
The notices have been issued to Chief Secretary and DGP of Orissa "calling upon them to submit a
detailed report of the violence in the state since the killing of religious leader Laxmanananda Saraswati and four others," an official spokesperson said.
The Commission has asked for the report to be submitted within two weeks, he said.
Churches and missionary-run institutions have come under attacks in the state in a backlash to the assassination of VHP leader Laxmananda Saraswati on Saturday last.
