Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) state president Ravinder Raina has held the Congress and National Conference responsible for "continuous discrimination" against the Ladakh region.
Addressing a rally at Sakti village in Kharu block of Leh district, Raina said the Congress, who is a coalition partner with the NC in the state and is leading the UPA government at the Centre, has failed to provide justice to people of Ladakh as the region still lacks basic amenities.
"Sufferings and miseries of common man living in the region are increasing by the day and the Congress minister from the region is indifferent to the problems being faced by people of Ladakh," he added.
Raina added that like Jammu, Ladakh, too, has been subjected to discrimination and the long-pending demand of granting Union Territory status to Ladakh is the only solution to end this discrimination.
Expressing anguish over the ignorance of educated Ladakhi youth, he demanded a special employment package for them and asked the government to immediately establish an examination centre of the Service Selection Board in Leh.
He added that the BJYM will continue its fight to provide justice to Ladakhi youth. Launching a scathing attack on minister Nawang Rigzin Jora, Raina said by joining the Congress for his own personal benefits Jora betrayed the people of Ladakh as the demand for UT status derailed after he joined the Congress to get a cabinet berth.
He said the Congress has nothing to do with the common man and asked the youth to uproot the party from the region.
BJP national executive member and former MP Thupstang Siwang asked people to get united to achieve the Union Territory status for Ladakh.
