Even before the start of the talks between Kashmiri separatists and the Centre. Moves have begun to scuttle the dialogue process as the “vested interests” are getting a sense of losing out.

phone, All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is determined to start the dialogue, first with Delhi and then with Islamabad and then simultaneously with the both, suspected that “ certain vested interests were at work to scuttle the dialogue process.”
“The elements, afraid of losing out in the wake of the separatists’ talks with Delhi have unleashed a propaganda war to undermine the dialogue process,” he said.
The Mirwaiz, who has made no secret of his agenda for the talks, which contains certain conditions, ranging from release of prisoners to thinning of troops, said “talks will go ahead.”
Such elements are both within the government and outside of it, and also some of those who donned the role of mediators of their own to take their own pound of flesh out of the process.
Mirwaiz having his own channels of communications with the relevant quarters, exchanging the notes, both with the men in Delhi and Islamabad, Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, would soon be meeting hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
Among other things, Geelani had told a team of the APHC (M) that why didn’t Mirwaiz himself visit him to discuss the issue.
“Our effort,” he said, “is to keep everyone on board.”.
