Pakistan on Thursday again violated ceasefire by firing heavily in Batal area of Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district, where two jawans had been killed on January 8.
According to sources, Pakistan started firing around 5pm. The firing, which lasted for about an hour, was targeted
at Chatri and Atma posts guarded by 13 Rajputana Rifles, which had lost two jawans.

Pakistan claimed that a jawan of the 29th Baloch regiment was killed in firing by Indian troops. The Indian army rejected the claim.

It was the fifth incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistan in the past 72 hours and 41st in the Krishna Ghati sector in the past year.

Sources said even the firing had stopped, but the situation continued to be tense and the possibility of resumption of firing late at night could not be ruled out.
