With friends like Ram Jethmalani, the BJP does not need enemies
This refers to the report Jethmalani dares BJP, is suspended (November 26). The BJP has done a good job by suspending Ram Jethmalani from the party. The veteran lawyer’s political ideology does not match with that
of the party. As a result, he started creating problems for the party. The BJP would do well without people like Jethmalani. One hopes that his suspension serves as a warning to other members of the saffron party who, like Jethmalani, are doing more harm than good to the party.

First get the facts right
This refers to the editorial Are we back to square one? (Our Take, November 27) that states that as the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) says it cannot review its decisions, the spectrum auction process will be delayed. We wish to point out that all the factual statements made in the editorial are completely incorrect.
Firstly, neither has the government sought any review by Trai of its decision nor, obviously, has Trai sent any communication in this regard. The statement that, “The government has, by scrapping the latest auction, admitted it was wrong to peg the price of air waves…” is totally incorrect and is entirely baseless as there is no proposal much less decision to scrap the recent auction. On the contrary, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has communicated to the successful bidders payments due from them; details of which are available on the DoT website.
We are surprised that a newspaper of your standing should publish an editorial based on unverified information and blatant untruths. It is entirely possible that the fact that this editorial has appeared on the very date that the Supreme Court is hearing an important matter concerning the recent auctions is entirely a coincidence.
