BSF posted outside Cong office after arson

Border Security Force (BSF) jawans have been deployed outside the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee office here after party workers' protest against anamolies in ticket distribution for the December 12 assembly election, turned violent.
face="Verdana, Helvetica" size="2">Congress workers protested against fielding of Ahmedabad Mayor Himatsinh Patel, Rakhial assembly segment, and induldged in slogan shouting and arson, official sources said.

While one group was agitating against Patel, another group came and protested against Hari Choudhary who was fielded from Mansa assembly seat in Gandhinagar district.

GPCC spokesman Hasmukh Patel told PTI that "BSF has been deployed following the recent incidents of arson and violence at the GPCC. We had informed the police but did not specify deployment of BSF."

He said that strict diciplinary action would be taken against those indulging in violence and for anti-party activities.

This was the fourth incident in a series when workers protesting indulged in low scale arson and ransacking of the GPCC office.

Earlier supporters of Farookh Sheikh, who was denied ticket from Kalupur assembly seat ransacked the Congress office on Friday.
