Sri Lankan police have seized hundreds of T-shirts illegally printed with the logo of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy tournament taking place in the capital Colombo, officials said Thursday. The ICC said it had sought police help to crack down on the bootleg
products being sold in clothing stores in the Sri Lankan capital without the permission of the tournament organisers.

"Counterfeit clothing, particularly T-shirts, were found in shops in all main market areas including Pettah, Nugegoda and Havelock Road," an ICC spokesman here said.

He said the ICC's development arm known as ICC Development International (IDI) had received reports of widespread violation of the ICC logos on unofficially produced clothing.

The IDI representatives also found T-shirts with the ICC World Cup 2003 logo following a police raid which resulted in the seizure of over 300 T-shirts.
