The stand to be taken by the Tamil Nadu government at the Cauvery River Water Authority meeting to be held in Delhi on June 9, the drought-conditions and the drinking water shortage in several parts of the state were discussed at a cabinet meeting held on Friday.

Chaired by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, the meeting is understood to have discussed the poor storage in Mettur dam, following the non-release of cauvery water by Karnataka government last year.

This is the first cabinet meeting after five members were added to the ministry on Tuesday last, while dropping two.
