Jesus on
Playboy cover? It's true. The scandalous representation of Jesus Christ on the Portugese
Playboy July 2010 cover has caused much furor forcing the Playboy headquarters to shut the Portugese publication.
Theresa Hennessy, Playboy Enterprises vice president told
Mail Online, "We did not see or approve the cover and pictorial in the July issue of
Playboy Portugal.

It is a shocking breach of our standards and we would have not allowed it to be published if we had seen it in advance. We are in the process of terminating our agreement with the Portuguese publisher."
While the Portugese cover features Jesus comforting a topless woman, the inside pages have more provocative illustrations.
Buzz is that the Jesus Christ depiction is a tribute to Jose Saramago, who in his novel The Gospel According To Jesus Christ, potrayed Jesus Christ as more human-like than divine.
The critics feel that the tribute is an ill-conceived one.
But unlike the more human Saramago's Christ, the images do not depict Christ interacting with the beauties.
