Former Pakistan PM and president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Sharif, who is a strong  contender for PM's post, said the dialogue and not armed intervention is the answer to deal with terror groups in Pakistan.

Asked whether he as a prime minister will have reservations about supporting the army's fight against terror, he said, "This problem has to be solved on a priority basis. There is no doubt about it and you can't solve all the problems through guns and bullets. You've got to also explore other options."

Speaking to Karan Thapar on a CNN IBN show,  he said: "We will have to have all the stakeholders sitting across the table, discuss the matter with them openly, candidly and very frankly and arrive at a policy and strategy that is workable."

Asked if he would start dialogue side by side with the war on terror or would dialogue replace the war on terror Sharif said all options will have to be exercised.

The former Pakistan prime minister said if he comes to power, he will ensure that the army doesn't interfere in the affairs of the civilian government.
