The Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has suspended the licence of Chennai-based Paramount Airways.
The decision was taken as the airline did not meet the minimum fleet requirement, DGCA sources said. A scheduled operator must have a fleet of at least five aircraft and
Paramount, at present, has just one operational aircraft.
The licence was suspended last week.
“The licence has been suspended. Their case would be reviewed once they meet the fleet requirement criteria,” a DGCA official said.
The airline had received in-principle approval from the aircraft acquisition committee of the Ministry of Civil Aviation in May for permission to import one Embraer ERJ 170 aircraft, 10 A-321, five Airbus A-320s and six Q 400 Bombardier aircraft.
