Low-cost carrier SpiceJet on Tuesday announced fresh orders for 30 Boeing 737-800 aircraft at a cost of USD 2.7 billion, deliveries of which will commence from 2014.
"SpiceJet is placing a new order of 30 aircraft with Boeing, deliveries to which will begin in 2014,” company
director Ajay Singh told reporters here.
Singh denied reports that the name of the airline would be changed shortly. He also said that the airline would not be going for a rights issue soon, despite reports in that regard.
"In the beginning, there is no plan to change the name...there is no proposal to go for rights issue either as we don't have any fund raising plans as of now. We might be shifting our registered office to Chennai but the corporate office will remain in Delhi," Singh said.
