Budget phones follow trends and the story of this phone is no different.

Pros: This is Maxx’s first device to offer Android Jelly Bean and the operating system does not disappoint. The interface is smooth and user- friendly. The product keeps its promise and offers a range of features (including a main 8.0 megapixel camera with LED flash and a front 2.0 megapixel camera, built-in light, proximity, gravity and accelerometer sensors) — for a very nominal price.

Cons: The phone’s body looks sleek at first sight, but hold it in your hands and you will realise that it is heavier than most other models that boast of similar features. The main camera bulges out from the body, which makes it very prone to damage, but a decent cover should solve that issue. The 5.3 in touchscreen display is impressive, but we would have liked something that was a little more compact (and would easily fit into our pockets).

Product: Maxx
AX9Z Race
quick specs: This dual-SIM smartphone has a 5.3in
touchscreen with qHD (540x960) resolution.
usp: A budget phone that boasts of latest technology and features.
official price: R16,666
BEST price: R11,675  (sulekha.com)

Verdict
If you are on a tight budget (and not a brand snob), and if you dream of owning a phone that is packed with every latest feature, this one does make the cut.
