Afghan soldiers killed six Taliban insurgents in Nuristan province of northeastern Afghanistan, provincial governor Tamim Nuristani said.

The clash occurred on Monday in Kamdesh district, said the governor, who did not mention the casualties of Afghan soldiers.

However, a local Afghan army commander said anonymously that six Afghan soldiers were killed and six others injured in the incident.

Due to rising Taliban-linked insurgency, over 1,300 persons, mostly Taliban militants, have been killed in Afghanistan this year.
