President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are the most admired man and woman in the US respectively, according to a latest poll.
Clinton pipped First Lady Michelle Obama to become the most admired woman of the US.
George W Bush (with four percent) is a
distant second to Obama (30 percent) as the most admired man, while former Alaska Governor and Republican Vice President nominee Sarah Palin with 15 percent of the votes closely follows Clinton (16 percent) as the most admired woman of the US, USA Today/Gallup poll said.
Talk show host Oprah Winfrey (eight per cent) and first lady Michelle Obama (secen percent) finish third and fourth, with former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (two percent), Queen Elizabeth II (two percent), former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (one percent), and poet Maya Angelou (one percent) -- all regulars on the list -- joined by newcomers German Chancellor Angela Merkel (one percent) and Elin Woods (one percent) in the top 10.
Interestingly, Hillary Clinton has now been named Most Admired Woman 14 times since 1993, spanning her career as first lady, New York senator, and now secretary of state.
The three times she has not finished first during this time, she earned second place (to Laura Bush in 2001 and to Mother Teresa in 1995 and 1996).
