A prominent businessman and AGP worker was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Assam's Sonitpur district on Monday.
The police said Omprakash Hazarika died on the way to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital after been shot two bullets outside his residence at Gohpur this
afternoon.
Angry AGP workers blocked National Highway 52 in protest against the killing. Police had to lathicharge to disperse the mob and tension prevails in the area.
In a separate incident, two bodies were recovered from the banks of Gouranga River at Haltugaon in Assam's Kokrajhar district, police said.
The duo was identified as Rajkumar Narzary and Khetra Basumatary who were missing since April 12.
