Actor Shah Rukh has refused to play the role of IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi despite being asked by Modi himself. The role is for the film Commissioner based on Modi’s life seen from the perspective of a journalist, reported the Mumbai Mirror. While the exact reason has
not been stated, the actor possibly rejected the role since he himself is so closely related with the league. It’s also possible that he refused to get involved with the IPL in the light of all the recent controversy around the League and its commissioner.

Shah Rukh and Lalit Modi“When the film was announced, everything was very rosy on the IPL front. But after the recent controversy on Lalit Modi, it has become a very sensitive topic,” a source told the tabloid.

Shailendra Singh, Joint MD of Percept Picture Company, which is producing the film, confirmed that the actor had been approached for the film, by Modi himself in fact. However, he refused claiming that he was too busy with his home production Ra.One.

Following this refusal, the company has reportedly approached Ajay Devgn and Irrfan Khan for the role.

Apparently, there was a struggle finding a director as well. Ace director Madhur Bhandarkar was asked to direct the film but he refused to do it because the issue was too controversial! Finally, director Shamim Desai will be directing it.

Now, let’s see who from the Actors’ Premiere League will put himself in the shoes of the controversial IPL commissioner.
