Literary agent Carmen Balcells said she doesn't expect to see any more books from Nobel laureate Gabriel Garcia Marquez. "I don't think that Garcia Marquez will write anything else," said Barcells in an interview with the daily La Tercera in which she added that the Colombian writer
represented 36.2 per cent of her literary agency's billing.

Echoing Balcells was Briton Gerald Martin, the writer of the only authorised biography of Garcia Marquez.

"I don't believe either that Gabo will write any more books, although it doesn't seem very regrettable to me because as a writer it was his fate to have the immense satisfaction of having a totally coherent literary career many years before ending his biological existence," Martin said.

After participating in paying homage to Carlos Fuentes at the Mexico's Guadalajara Book Fair last December, Garcia Marquez said he was tired of carrying on his literary efforts.

"It's a lot of work for me to write books," the author said at that time.

Martin said that the father of magical realism has a couple of other completed books but the decision whether or not to publish them has not yet been made.

Argentine writer Tomas Eloy Martinez, a friend of Garcia Marquez, expressed his doubts about whether those books will be published, saying that "only he knows his wishes and his limits in continuing to write".

"All the rest is just guesswork," Martinez said.
