Actor Hrithik Roshan will   spend Rs 9 lakh a month for the rest of his life on a noble cause.

The actor, who plays a paraplegic in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's
Guzaarish, was so touched by the plight of paraplegics that he has assumed the expenses for the treatment of 10 patients at hospitals in Mumbai.

A source from the film set says Hrithik, while researching his role, visited hospital wards  in Mumbai suburbs to meet patients.

"He visited in the morning when there were few visitors. He often spoke about how the patients he met came from far off places, had no family and were struggling to meet expenses.

"Hrithik often got emotional while talking about how treatment was long term and expensive," the source said.

She added that Hrithik asked the authorities at one hospital to put him through to someone who could help him take care of a few such patients.

"He 'adopted' 10 patients and will bear the complete cost of their treatment, medicines, and stay in the hospital," the source said.

The actor was not available for comment.
