A rape victim today committed suicide allegedly by consuming some poisonous substance outside the office of Rohtak IG, making it the second such incident in recent times.
The woman, who had come along with her husband Sunil to meet Inspector General G V Kamaraja, was found vomiting
outside his office. Though police rushed her to a hospital, she succumbed, Rohtak's SSP Alok Mittal told PTI.
The 23-year-old woman, in an earlier complaint lodged in Panipat, had alleged that she had been raped by five men last year.
Being dissatisfied with the progress in probe, she had lodged a separate complaint with the Rohtak IG after which the case investigation was handed over to DSP, Karnal. However, the case was dropped as no breakthrough was achieved.
The woman had come to the IG office today to lodge a protest. But she could not meet him as he was not in the office and took the extreme step, police sources said.
