Five Naxals were killed in an encounter with the police in Narayanpur district of Chhattishgarh on Sunday, police said.
The encounter took place in the forest area of Honganar of Narayanpur district, Inspector General R K Vij
told PTI.
Following a tip-off about the Naxal
activity in Honganar forest area near Bainur, special police forces were
deployed. As the forces reached the forest, the Naxals started firing. The police forces retaliated. The exchange of fire
between the outlaws and the police went on for two hours and after that the Naxals fled from the area, Vij said.
Five bodies of Naxals were recovered from the spot, Vij added. The police also recovered fire arms and explosives,
he added.
