Three days after the terror attack in Hyderabad, which claimed 16 lives, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh visited the city on Sunday.
“I am here to stand in solidarity with the people of Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh,” he said. “I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured, and
have sent my condolences to the families of the deceased.”
Arriving at the Hyderabad airport by a special aircraft around 11 am, Singh met Governor ESL Narsimhan and chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. Later, he proceeded to the blast site at Dilsukhnagar by a helicopter.
Getting off his car at the site of the first blast near Konark theatre, Singh walked to the bus stop near Venkatdri where the second bomb had exploded.
Later, he visited the two private hospitals, where the injured are undergoing treatment.The blasts on Thursday evening had left 119 people injured.
At the Yashoda hospital, the PM met 14 of the victims.
He spent some time understanding the nature of injuries of 21-year-old Pandu Ranga Reddy.
Reddy, whose left leg had to be amputated, is in a critical condition and is on ventilator support. He had also suffered multiple fractures in his thigh, left forearm and the right side of chest.
