As his directorial debut Taare Zameen Par hit threatres across the country on Friday, Bollywood actor, Aamir Khan said he was nervous and excited over its release but hoped all would like his "honest and sincere" effort. The movie, centred on the story of a dyslexic child,
stars Khan as a teacher.

"I have done honest work with sincerity. I hope the country likes this effort of mine," he said here after the 'red-carpet' premiere of the movie whose large portion has been shot in Panchgani, a scenic spot in Maharashtra.

Khan, who has forayed into direction with the film, said he was "nervous and excited" over the release.

He insisted that though the film is about a child, it is not confined to the children's world and the parents could have something to learn from it.

When referred to the opposition to the screening of his film in some parts of Gujarat, Khan expressed confidence that his movie would be allowed in the state.

"I always have love for the people of Gujarat," said 'Bhuvan' of Lagaan who was accompanied by his Assistant Producer wife Kiran Rao.

Some people in Gujarat are angry over Aamir Khan for participating in an agitation against the state government.

The release of the movie was stalled briefly in many Mumbai multiplexes following dispute over distribution rights.

"This is going to be an unusual movie, very refreshing too," said Fashion Designer JJ Valaya, who was among the celebrities to attend the premier.

Adman Prasoon Joshi, lyricist for the film, said all parents should see the film to understand a child's psychology and that the film is the story of 'every' child.
