Two letters, one as recently as 10 days ago, threatening to kidnap their daughter Sana for a ransom of Rs. 2 crore, were received by Sourav Ganguly's wife, Dona, a senior CID official said on Tuesday. "There was two letters which were sent by post to their residence, the first one, a
month ago and the second, 10 days ago," Additional Director General, CID, Bhupindar Singh told PTI in Kolkata on Tuesday.

The letters, he said, threatened to kidnap Sana for ransom of Rs. four crore.

Asked who sent the letters, Singh replied "it is not yet clear who sent the letters, but they came by post and it was addressed to Sourav's wife Dona Ganguly," Singh said.

"The Gangulys didn't give much of importance to the first letter, because at that time they were abroad, but after they received the second letter they were worried and approached the CID," Singh said.

"The CID is looking into the matter with all seriousness," he said.

Ganguly, during a press conference at Bangalore to announce his retirement, on Tuesday revealed that his family had received threats of his daughter being kidnapped.
