Sri Lankan cricketer Thilan Samaraweera was released from hospital on Thursday, just over two weeks after he was shot when his team was attacked in Pakistan. Samaraweera, who had a bullet removed from his left thigh, was the last of the Sri Lankan players wounded in the March 3 attack to
be released.

His manager Charlie Austin said Samaraweera may be able to resume training at the end of April.

Samaraweera was among seven Sri Lankan players and a British assistant coach injured when more than a dozen gunmen used rifles, grenades and rocket launchers to attack a team convoy on its way to Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore for a test match against Pakistan. Six police officers and the driver of a van carrying match officials were killed, and a Pakistani umpire shot during the attack is still in a Lahore hospital recovering from his wounds. Before the attack, Samaraweera had notched his second successive test double century, scoring 214 in Lahore after reaching 231 in the first test at Karachi.
