It’s a pity that the cricket world will sleepwalk through the Ahmedabad ODI. It is still reeling under the Sachin Tendulkar special. Nobody in modern sports has dominated it for more than 10 years unlike Tendulkar who has been doing it for 20 years. Twenty20 might have added strokes to a
batsman’s repertoire but Tendulkar's class in Gwalior was steeped in technical orthodoxy. There is no doubt that the fire of excellence still rages in Tendulkar’s heart.
Efforts must now be made that the body stands by him. In this scientific era, Tendulkar needs better medical support as well as nutritional sustenance to let his body not come in the way of further longevity. Let him redefine the age of 40 as the new 25!
