Just a few days ago, we had reported that Sanjay Leela Bhansali was having problems in casting  an actor in the main lead for his next production, Chenab Gandhi. The last actor to have turned down the role was Shahid Kapoor. The film will be directed by Bhansali’s assistant Vibhu
Puri and stars Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan.

Now a source close to Bhansali informs us that he’s toying with the idea of casting Abhay Deol, who’s currently in New York and is expected to return early next month.

Our source also tells us that Bhansali has already spoken to Deol but the latter will decide only after he goes through the script when he returns.

It must be noted that Deol has always been very cautious when it comes to giving the go-ahead to a film.

Harman Baweja had been the initial choice but after the debacle of his second film, Victory, Bhansali replaced him with John Abraham.

Reportedly, John refused to be a part of the project because girlfriend Bipasha Basu prodded him to turn down a role opposite Balan.

Bhansali was supposed to begin the first schedule of the film by the end of April or May. But now it hangs in the balance till Abhay returns from foreign shores.

Apart from producing the film, Bhansali will also score the music for the film.
